June 2003

Welcome to Pat Thompson, the new parish administrator!

First of all, really and truly, there is such a school as Slippery Rock State University, and Pat attended it!  It is in Pennsylvania, which is where Pat was born and raised.  She is from Grove City, not far from Pittsburgh.  She has been a school teacher and for a number of years was a script editor at Twentieth Centruy Fox in Los Angeles.  Her most famous credit was M*A*S*H.  She moved to New York and worked in advertising and marketing.

Pat has served in two parishes, as parish administrator.  She was virtually the entire office staff at St. Mark's in the Bowery, in the East Village, and most recently, she served as the parish administrator at Christ and St. Stephen's on the upper west side.  Christ and St. Stephen's is the parish which Terry Gleeson and Dennis Manalo have been attending at the Bishop's request as Terry prepared to be received as a priest in this church.

When she is not working, Pat likes to paint.  She paints in oils and favors landscapes because she says that she is not good at people-painting.  So, portraits are probably not in her future.  She also does needlework, mostly crochet, and while she does not have any pets, she is the godmother to three large cats ("the boys") who live with Clark Trafton and Lewis Kerman.  She likes to travel and when she does, she likes to go to Spain.  Perhaps she can practice her Spanish upon Nelson, the new sexton, and finally master the details of the subjunctive mood.

Welcome Pat to the office on 17 June and help her to begin to find her way around St. John's.
