Welcome to Nelson Ulloa, the new parish sexton!

Nelson was born in the Dominican Republic and emigrated to the United States when he was a small child. He now lives in East Elmhurst, and he has two children. Yalitsa is 21 years old and she attends college. His other daughter, Yesilis, is 17 and is just finishing high school.

Nelson is fond of Latin music and while he does not play an instrument, he enjoys listening to music. His main hobby is weightlifting, which he has been doing for about 20 years. Currently he belongs to a gym on 57th Avenue in Queens, but he also lifts at home and with friends. (Interestingly enough, he shares this hobby with Edwin Cruz, our former sexton who just left us for a new job in Forest Hills .)

Before coming to work for us, Nelson worked for the Wallace Company in Maspeth, Long Island. Wallace is a company which makes a variety of paper boxes for display and shipping. He worked in production and maintenance and comes to us with a lot of experience in factory work and care of buildings and grounds.

We welcome Nelson to St. John’s in the Village and promise to support him in his work around our buildings.
