COVID-19 and Public Safety

October 2020

St John’s has re-opened for public worship on Sundays and Wednesdays within all the COVID-19 safety precautions given by the CDC, the State and City of New York, and the Diocese of New York. All are welcome at our Eucharists at 6.15pm on Wednesdays and at 8.30am (said) and 11am (sung) on Sundays. It is helpful to let us know of your attendance a few days prior. Face-coverings must be worn, and seats are six feet apart.

At present the Daily Office (Morning Prayer and Evensong) remains on-online only (http://www.stjvny.org/daily-office-)

St John’s has throughout the pandemic remained open Monday to Friday for private prayer, meditation, silence, and reading*. It is also a place where musicians may come to continue to practice or to live-stream recitals to at-home audiences. The church is open from Monday to Friday from 11am to 3pm. St Benedict’s Courtyard is similarly open to the public, and provides safe out-door seating for our neighboring restaurant Taïm.

In accordance with the nation-wide directive we now limit the capacity of the church to 16 units, to maintain advised safe physical distancing while continuing to pray and to enjoy the beauty of music and to enjoy the beauty of music and the arts in these troublous times.
*If you wish to read online in church please use our wi-fi: St Benedict’s Courtyard (password: Scholastica).

Additionally, St. John’s is partnering with Invisible Hands to offer shopping assistance to vulnerable individuals:
