A Note from Brother James Dowd

The following note was received by the Rector in response to our invitation to Father Corney’s 50th Anniversary Celebration. James was a member of the parish and is now a brother at Holy Cross Monastery in West Park, New York.

Dear Lloyd,

Hello! I hope you are well. Things here at the monastery are quite wonderful and I am reveling in Advent.

It was good of you to invite me to Father Corney’s anniversary and I will indeed be attending. I am a big fan of Dick Corney and am thrilled that I can be present with all of you. I’ll be getting the rsvp back in the mail to you in the next day or two, but wanted to let you know as well via email.

I have begun to engage in some very active and wonderful ministry - giving several Quiet Days here at the monastery (including one for people living with HIV/AIDS) and several parish retreats. I also work in a homeless shelter one day per week. So that, coupled with the prayer life of a monastic order and community life are quite rewarding. Challenging too, sometimes – but overall, rewarding.

I’d love to hear how you are and what is going on. My best to everyone at the parish.

Peace,

James
