About the Rector's Journal

From time to time, the Rev'd Lloyd Prator, the rector of St. John's, will write brief articles commenting on some aspect of church life, theology, the passing social and cultural scene, or the arts. In many cases, these will be opinion pieces and do not reflect or imply any stated position of the parish or of the vestry. These occasional writings are meant to stimulate discussion within and without the parish and they may be quoted or excerpted as long as they are credited to the author and to this web site.

You can expect to see commentary on films and plays, music and the arts. From time to time, this space may contain commentary on life in New York City and issues facing this city as well as others. The Episcopal Church finds itself at a time of controversy and change, and commentary upon and evaluation of these controversies, issues, and changes will also appear here.

Read the Rector's Jounal for commentary and opinion.
