Stations of the Cross

Each Thursday in Lent

6:15 pm in the Church

The Stations of the Cross are a medieval pious tradition modeled upon certain ancient processions around Jerusalem and other cities in the middle east. It was the custom in some places to travel to the various places where events in the passion and death and burial of Jesus took place, or were believed to have taken place, and praying at each location. That custom, when separated from the middle east, led to making a procession around the church to pause at statuary or other icons representing the events of the Passion of Jesus Christ.

Our stations were done by an iconographer, and we have a wonderful book about them, copies of which are available in the tract rack, written by David Buck, who was one of the seminarians who attended this parish about five years ago. Read the publication, plan to come to stations, and allow them to deepen your own intercessory prayrs during Lent.
