2004 Vestry Report
Editor
Named
Vestrymember
Jeanne Sutton has agreed to serve as editor
of The Messenger. Parish Administrator Pat
Thompson will continue to be responsible for typing
and production, but starting with this issue Jeanne will assist
with content coordination and proofreading. At the recent
Vestry Planning Conference some suggestions made for features
to be included in its pages were these: calendar of upcoming
events; parish birthdays; opportunities for ministry; and
a “wish list” of needed items looking for donors. If you have
any additional suggestions, please speak with Jeanne or the
Vestry on Call rep at Sunday coffee hour.
Parish
Directory
It's
time to update the Parish Directory, which hasn't been done
since the end of 2002. The directory will be on the Vestry
on Call table Sundays in April beginning on Palm Sunday. Newcomers
and old timers both: Please take a few minutes to
stop by and add new information, or correct old information.
We'd like to have this project completed by the end of April,
and we need your help to ensure that all parishioners are
included and your listing is accurate.
AIDS
Walk May 16
This
year the New York City AIDS Walk will be held on Sunday, May
16. St. John's
will be joining with other parishes in the New
York diocese to participate
in this important fund-raiser. Team captains Suzanne
Culhane and Gerry Dilley are looking
for volunteers to walk and to make financial contributions.
You will be hearing more from them on ways you can help.
Save
This Date (and Save Your Good “Junk”)
By popular demand, St.
John's will sponsor another
courtyard bazaar cum flea market this fall. The date is Saturday,
October 3, rain or shine. Hopefully, this will be a courtyard
affair, but if it rains, we will hold it inside the parish hall.
Details and more information will be announced later by event
coordinators Lorraine Burns and Jeanne
Sutton. In the interim, please save this date and don't
throw out or give away any good stuff! |
