Father Prator’s 20th Anniversary as Rector
On Sunday, February 24th the parish honored The Rev’d Lloyd Prator on his 20th anniversary as their rector. The following remarks were delivered by The Rev’d Samuel Cross to kick off the celebration.

“When the wardens asked Gordon King to play ‘For He’s a Jolly Good Fellow’ today, Gordon suggested ‘Hail to the Chief’. That was fun and it is close to our sentiments for today’s occasion.

We come together to offer thanksgiving for twenty years of service and dedication by Father Prator as our rector and chief shepherd.

Being rector is an awesome responsibility and we are grateful for:
· your countless hours of pastoral and sacramental care, 24/7
· your insistence of great catholic liturgy in the best Anglican tradition, with order, dignity and reverence.
· your administrative wisdom and insights for our well being
· your dedication to quality brick and mortar ministry which has yielded us the reputation of the best maintained buildings in the Diocese of New York
We know none of this to be happenstance. You were brought to St. John’s by the Holy Spirit and you remain with the guidance and appreciation of that spirit.

We have been and remain grateful and gracious beneficiaries of your prayerful, wise and loving care as our rector and chief shepherd.

Whenever Father Corney, Father Hellman, and I meet to discuss a liturgical or pastoral question, our inquiry usually concludes with the same solution ... Father Corney says ‘Let’s ask the BOSS!’ So raise your glasses. Here’s to the boss!”
