Schola
Cantorum on Hudson Celebrates Landmark Periods in United States
History
A concert program of American works underscoring profound
moments and landmark periods in United States History from
the first half of the 20th century to the present day. Highlights
of the program include a performance of a Project Enclore
work, "Free at Last", SCH's 2009-2010 featured composter
Dr. Roger Wesby based the composition on Dr. Martin Luther
King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech. Audiences will
also hear Gershwin tunes, spirituals, and familiar folk songs
such as Shawn Kirchner's arrangement of the traditional Appalachian
song "Bright Morning Stars". Other composer/arrangers
include Libby Larsen, Moses Hogan, Mark Hayes, and Alice Parker.
