On Tuesday 13 May at 2pm St John’s parishioners and friends are invited to join the webinar 1700th anniversary of the Council of Nicaea. 2025 marks the 1700th anniversary of the Council of Nicaea. What was the Council all about? Why was it important? What difference does it make to our faith today, and why is it still so debated and discussed? Fr Peter Anthony, graduate of Magdalen College, Oxford (the Rector’s alma mater) and Vicar of All Saints’ Church, Margaret Street, London, presents this online seminar. He will be joined by the Reverend Dr Andrew Davison, Regius Professor of Theology at the University of Oxford (and an old friend of the Rector). He will help us explore the key ideas at the heart of the Nicaean debate and explain why this Council is such an important milestone in our understanding of the mystery of the godhead.
