Pride Month at St John’s in the Village
June 2024
St John’s in the Village was the host of the first LGBTQ+ community meeting responding to the events of the Stonewall Riots in June 1969. This meeting led to the organization of the first parade in 1970.
This June St John’s offers a number of special Pride events, a month-long art exhibition by the LGBTQ+ artist John MacConnell, two specially commissioned pieces of chamber-music (one honoring the beginnings for the Pride Parade in 1970, and one for World AIDS Day) by the LGBTQ+ composer Leonard Bopp, and thrice-weekly LGBTQ+ AA meetings.
